    Try the official simulator

    Before test day, open the DGT simulator to recognise the interface and how answers are submitted.

    What to expect: The exam format and a limited set of available tests. It is useful for learning the interface, not as a complete study system.

    Get the medical fitness report

    Visit an authorised Driver Recognition Centre. According to the DGT, the certificate is valid for 90 days for submitting your application.

    Submit the application and pay the fee

    If you are a student, your driving school usually manages the file. If applying independently, use the DGT online office. The DGT fee includes two test sittings.

    Take the theory test

    The DGT runs and marks the test. Check your appointment and the official instructions so you arrive with the correct documents.

    Prepare for and pass the practical test

    After passing theory, continue your practical training and take the road test when you are ready.

    Receive your licence

    After you pass the final test, the DGT issues a provisional permit and then sends the permanent licence.

Before you begin

Do I need a driving school to prepare for theory?

Not necessarily. The DGT allows you to prepare for theory and apply for the test independently. A driving school can manage preparation, your file, and test coordination.

Is Beep an official DGT app?

No. Beep is an independent study tool and is not affiliated with the DGT. The DGT owns the official procedures, tests, and results.

Is the official simulator enough to study?

It is not designed as a complete course. The DGT provides a limited number of questionnaires to help you become familiar with the exam format and interface.

Does the Category B test always have 30 questions?

The general rule allows between 30 and 50 questions. The standard Category B format is 30 questions in 30 minutes, with up to 3 errors.
